Did any of you view the meteor shower last night?
I did a little research and read that the best viewing time would be at 2:00 a.m. and the best method would be to lay flat on your back with an unobstructed view of the sky.
I crept out of bed at the appropriate time and quietly opened the front door. I thought about the back yard being more private since it is surrounded by a privacy fence, but there are so many trees back there that I didn’t think I would be able to get a good view.
I could see that it was a clear night and I walked out into the yard a little way to find a good spot. I was planning to wait until I was sure there would be a good show before waking anyone else up.
That’s when I started thinking, “What if I lie down and fall asleep? And don’t wake up until, say, 6:30? What if someone sees a woman lying motionless in her front yard and calls the police? And they come to check it out? Then file a police report? And it ends up in the local paper?”
All police reports end up in our local paper. Including names and addresses.
That’s when I turned around and went back to bed without seeing a single shooting star.
So, did any of you see it?

Nope! We had clouds–no rain that we desperately need, but we had those hazy clouds that keep you from seeing anything. Bummer! But I would LOVE to see that report in your small hometown paper. I got such a laugh out of it. Ha-ha!
Hilarious! I actually laughed out loud reading your account. Thanks for the smile. (I didn’t even know there was a meteor shower…).
HAhahHAHhAH! I don’t think I would have even thought about what passer-bys might have thought of a motionless woman laying in the yard! That is just too funny.
Oh, and no. I didn’t even know there was one. lol
That is hilarious! I would never have thought of that, but I would have been worried that one of my kids would wake up and wonder where Mommy went.
Next time, you will have to take an alarm clock out with you!
Arrgh! I forgot all about it! But I didn’t know it was going to be at 2am, so I guess I didn’t miss anything after all.
Too funny on the idea of falling asleep in the front yard. Good thinking!
We had awful low hanging clouds and thunderstorms, so no meteor shower for us this year!
