Just Regular Ol’ Me

by Smockity Frocks on July 15, 2009

I have this Land’s End swim skirt that has lasted for three years now. (That, my friends, is quality!) I really do love it because it is a nice length for the amount of coverage I like and the fabric is thick enough so that I don’t feel like I am wearing lingerie in public.

This year I ordered this cute halter swim top to go with it, only in this print.

Got all that?

So, when I tried on my new swim top for the first time, my seven year old stared at me for a long moment before she announced her opinion.

Her: “That looks like it was meant for someone young and thin.”

Me: “Are you saying I am old and fat?”

Her: “No, but you know. You are just…regular.”

Nice to know.

Don’t forget, Ladies, you need to have nerves of steel to have kids who possess the power of speech.

I was eyeing that top in the catalog I got yesterday. I like it.

The top looks great to me! I tried on one similar but in a dark color the other day but the straps were too far out on my shoulders–didn't work for me unless I really had BROAD shoulders. Oh well, I will keep on looking!

I have that exact same skirt, only in pink. But since I've worn a maternity suit a time or three since I got it, it's held up incredibly well. Maybe I will replace the top next year… (Do love the skirt, though.)

LOL– I think that top is adorable and if you can wear it GO FOR IT!

Last time I tried on swimsuits I had to take the kids in the dressing room with me. I think I had the oldest three and it was a couple years ago. But one of them, I can't remember if it was the oldest or second child said, "Mommy, why do your legs look like that?"

What I meant by "if you can wear it" was "if it fits you." I'd love to wear something so cute.

I bought my first Lands End swim suit this year and I love it. I'm hoping that I get several years use out of it.

This story reminds me of the time (about 100 years ago, ok, so it was only 20 or so years ago. . . just seems like a 100!) I was looking at a swimsuit catalog and had finally decide to order on. It was a fairly discreet one in black. My son was about 7 years old and he was hanging around looking over my shoulder. So, I showed him the one that I was going to order. He looked absolutely horrified. Then he exclaimed “You can’t wear that!! You are a MOM!!!”
Kids are so nice.
