Isaiah 40:8

by Smockity Frocks on October 4, 2009

The grass withers, the flower fades,
But the word of our God stands forever.

When I was 11 years old, my mother and father bought me a brand new Bible to take to camp. It was a real Bible. It had a brown leather cover, and maps and an index, and no childish drawings of Jesus in a sailboat. It felt solid and heavy in my hands.

This verse was on the cover page of the Bible and I immediately set it to memory.

It was such a comfort to me at the time, and it still is today, that the things around me may be only temporary, but all the promises and encouragement in that book would last for eternity.
