Save-a-Lot Gift Card Giveaway

This week, I was invited, along with a few other bloggers, to attend a cooking demonstration at Save-a-Lot food store with Chef Tim Love, whose claim to fame (at least in our family) is “in May 2007, Love appeared on the Food Network’s ‘Iron Chef America’ in a victorious ‘Chile’ battle against Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto.” (I’m the lumpy one, front and center.)

We consider it prime entertainment to watch Iron Chef America to see if anyone can emerge a victor against the any of the famous “Iron Chefs” (as if you needed confirmation that we are indeed weird), so I knew this was an opportunity I didn’t want to turn down.

Chef Love was friendly and chatty. There was a fourth grade class there to observe his demonstration, and he patiently took questions from the children and even called a volunteer to assist him.

Save-a-Lot then donated $1,000 (plus the ingredients to make Chef Love’s chile) to a charity that feeds the hungry in my area.

I enjoyed myself and met a few new bloggers. Spiderman was even there!

He got a little restless after a while. I feel ya, Spidey. Sometimes a super hero has got to relax!

I even brought back a goody for one of my readers!

Save-a-Lot provided me with $30 in gift cards to give away to one of you! And if you don’t believe you can “Save-a-Lot” just check out what I spotted while I was there!

If you would like to be entered to win, simply *leave a comment on this post, and I’ll enter you in the drawing.

*The comment must be friendly and rated G to be entered. I have enabled comment moderation to ensure nothing hateful or obscene gets through, so it may take a while for you to see yours.

  1. We love Iron Chef around these parts too! We watch it mainly for our love of Mr. Alton Brown ;)

  2. Don’t enter me, I’ve never even heard of Save A Lot. ;) I don’t think we have them in Idaho.
I just wanted to say it looked like fun and you look adorable.

  3. Okay, my son & I LOVE Iron Chef (even if my husband does playfully poke fun at us for it…), so it’s not weird at all!

Also, I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve had nasty comments on your lovely blog. I am pretty sure that I commented on the post in question, and I hope that I did not in any way contribute to the negativity. There is never a reason for nastiness (I think, maybe unless you are Janet Jackson circa early 1990′s… I seem to remember her singing about being “nasty…”).

I certainly know that you would never intend anything mean about anyone, and I’m surprised to hear that anyone else would either. I love your blog, and since you started doing the occasional vlog post, I swear I can hear your voice/southern accent in my head whenever I read your blogposts!

  4. There’s a Save a Lot right down the street! I would love to win!

  5. (you’re making me rather curious as to all this drama, I must have missed something! Silly Australian time zones making things disappear before I get to see them)

I don’t have a save-a-lot here, but I have an american friend who would appriciate the help! so can I enter?

  8. I was just a Save-A-Lot last week… please enter me for the giveaway! Thanks for the chance to win :D

  9. I’ve meaning to try the Sav-a Lot in the neighboring town — this gift card would be wonderful incentive!

  10. I hate hearing things like nasty comments on blogs as sweet as yours, Connie. I hope you didn’t take it personally and instead just prayed for that easily offended commenter.

  11. Even when just offering a give-away, your posts are just SOOOooooo cute! I like your Spidey comments! :D And by the way, you look wonderful! I never looked quite like that when I was expecting-you have to add about 5 pounds of puffiness to my face, and about another 40 pounds to my body-then you have me as an expectant mommy!
Will look forward to your future posts, and thanks for the chance to win the gift card!

  12. We love Iron Chef! Such a fun show… I too have found memories of going to Save A Lot w/ my mom.

  13. Please enter me, would love to have a SAL gc!
    Thanks!

We have a Sav-a-Lot just a few blocks away and the girls and I often walk there to do light shopping.

    :)

  19. I love Save-A-Lot! They have saved me soo much on my grocery bill. I would put those gift cards to great use!

  20. How fun! I’d love the chance. Thanks. :) And, as always, your post made me smile.

  21. I will CONTINUE to leave nice comments on your blog– even if it means I get nasty comments on mine. I’m sure anyone that’s read your blog knows that you are not prejudiced or ignorant about such things as autism.

On to happier things, you look adorable in your pregnant little self. :) We don’t have a Save-A-Lot either. So no need to enter my name.

  22. **Doing the “Pick me! Pick me!” dance** :) We love Save-a-lot and didn’t have one close to us since our move, until just this week!! Woot!! :)

  23. Pick me pick me pick me!!!!!!!! :) Have a great day.

  27. Connie,

I love Iron Chef (you are totally NOT weird) and Save A Lot. I also love reading your blog :) Please enter me into the contest!

  28. Save-A-Lot has really great prices, and the employees are very nice too. I am glad we now have one close my house.

  29. I would love to win! I just started reading your blog this week. I love your you tube videos! The diaper changing video was hilarious. I also enjoyed the post about The House 2 Incomes Built.

  30. What a fun give a way!

  31. Thank you for the chance to win! Have a blessed day. :)

  32. ElizabethSue says:

    Hey looks great! :)

  33. We have a Save-A-Lot and it is gross – seriously, my compost heap smells better! There is a Save-A-Lot a few miles up the road and folk says it’s clean and wonderful – sooooo if I win, I’ll head up there and check it out.

  34. Please enter me in your giveaway. I love reading your blog. As my parents brought me up if people don’t have something nice to say they shouldn’t say anything at all! That is the only thing I don’t like about on the internet is the rudeness of some posters who don’t care about the meanness they spread with vicious comments. Good for you standing up for yourself.

  35. I would love to win this to help out my parents. Please enter me. God Bless.

  36. Wow, I’ve never seen a giveaway for Save-A-Lot before. To be honest, I wasn’t even sure that many places had them any more, lol. I’d love to win.

  37. I’ll take all the help on groceries I can get!!

  38. I love to shop at Save-a-lot and I am always amazed by the great deals. Spidey was sooo cute!
