by Smockity Frocks on May 3, 2010

It is super simple to make homemade pancake syrup! I can whip it up in a jiffy while my pancakes are browning and my kids love to have it fresh and hot!

Homemade Pancake Syrup Recipe

  • 2 cups water
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. maple flavoring
  • 1/4 tstp. vanilla flavoring
  1. Bring water to a boil.
  2. Add sugar.
  3. Boil for one minute.
  4. Cool and add flavoring.

Below is a video showing how quickly and simply you can make your own.

I was just looking for a recipe for homemade syrup this weekend! I need to get some maple flavoring to have on hand.

Was it just me, or were there some contractions going on there?

Thanks so much for the recipe!

I just found your site recently and am really enjoying it! This is wonderful – I’ve been looking for a recipie for syrup for awhile! Thankyou!

Love it!!

We’ve cut out corn syrup, so homemade syrup is all we do around here. Because we’re absolute health nuts. Anyhoo, I’ve reduced my syrup by simmering on low heat while stirring to get a thicker product.

LOVE the videos! ADORE the off-camera comments!!

How to make Apricot syrup for pancakes like they serve at
Perkins resturants?

I too want to make apricot syrup. Perkins does not sell it anymore.

Hey, Smockity, Love your blog!
I have been making your pancake syrup recipe. I think that the children are finally used to the flavor :) I really like it too.
What I was wondering is….do you store yours in the frig? I had some to start molding in my pantry. I really resist the idea of storing in the frig. because I hate cold syrup/heating syrup ;/ So would you tell me how you do it?
Thanks, Angela

Thank you, Angela!

We keep ours in the pantry and it has never gone bad, but we eat it up pretty quick.
