More Baby

by Smockity Frocks on May 21, 2010

I hope you’ll pardon me if I can’t stop talking about how absolutely adorable our new baby is! I promise I’ll only post 15 or 30 more times about her this week.

First off, I would like to clear up a common misconception about giving birth for the eighth time: The baby does NOT just slide right out. But to all those people who laughingly suggested it, hoo-WEE, boy howdy. I’m still cracking up over that one. Seriously. Verrrry funny.

And in news of 17 babies born at the same hospital in one day may cause a bit of confusion: A nurse just came in to take my baby GIRL to be circumsized. Um. No thank you very much.

And NOW, here are some photos of Sweet Peyton and even a video of the first time the Smockity Bunch got to meet their new baby sister.

And, yes, thanks for asking. It is always precisely this chaotic at our place.

Congratulations! What a beautiful baby and precious family you have. I could watch that video over and over again. I am wondering, though, why Emelyn wasn’t supposed to kiss Peyton’s hand? I’m not that protective of germs and such with a newborn, so is that it or was there another reason? (If you are that protective, that’s fine. I’m not being critical, just curious…)

Congratulations again. Oh, such a beautiful baby!!!

We’ve just had a round of the throw ups at our house – which I HOPE are gone now, but that voice was one of my bossy children, probably worried about the new baby getting it. Never a dull moment! =)

Martha Harter May 21, 2010 at 1:42 pm

Beautiful, sweet baby! Congratulations!!

Anita May 21, 2010 at 1:48 pm

Congratulations!!! and I know your son is probably just fine with all those sisters, but I hope he gets lots of dad time!!!

Elizabeth Jaeckle May 21, 2010 at 1:57 pm

I told my son, the only boy with 4 girls, about your son. He just sighed. They sure will make good husbands, won’t they?

JessieLeigh May 21, 2010 at 2:26 pm

@Elizabeth Jaeckle, I used to tease that I would only marry a man with sisters…and I did! He’s he only boy in his family. :) I bet both your sons will make wonderful husbands some day for sure!

Mama Mirage May 24, 2010 at 11:51 am

@JessieLeigh, I always teased that too, that I’d only marry a guy with sisters, and then I went and wound up married to a guy who only had 2 older brothers. ;) He’s pretty awesome for having had no female experience whatsoever though, I have to say. I notice he’s alot easier on our daughter (3 3/4) than our son (1 3/4) though and have to remind him that little girls need to be told NO once in a while too! Lol!

Kara May 24, 2010 at 7:35 am

@Elizabeth Jaeckle, Yes, because when you marry a man who only has 3 brothers and then gets married and has 3 daughters, well, lets just say he is still learning:)

She’s beautiful! I’m really glad you didn’t get her circumcised. I’m very anti-circumcision…you know, on girls. ;-)

April C. May 21, 2010 at 11:13 pm

Congratulations on the newest, precious blessing. I love the name so I won’t hold it against you that you didn’t pick my suggestions (Jocelyn) :-) I think the other kids were so well behaved, no chaos at all, just beautiful children loving on their new sister.

Thank you so much for sharing that with us.

Beautiful pictures to share! I wanted to comment on the circumcision situation – my parents received a bill for circumcision after they had brought me home. My dad actually had to take me back to the hospital to point out that the bill MUST be a clerical error on their part!

Abigail May 22, 2010 at 2:06 pm

SO precious! What a sweet video too! Congratulations on your newest precious addition!

Amber May 22, 2010 at 3:03 pm

Congratulations! She is precious and absolutely adorable!!!

Aunt LoLo May 22, 2010 at 8:18 pm

Aww, Miss Smockity. You make cute babies. :-) Congrats, and rest up!!

Lisa May 22, 2010 at 10:12 pm

Sooooooooooooooooooo precious! She is absolutely darling! Can I hold her? ;)

You know, I’ve only had two children, but I still didn’t find that funny about the babies just “sliding out.” Not at all. And mine both had such big heads that they came out head and body in one push…

But that comment about the nurse coming to take the baby GIRL to be circumcised–that was a hoot! The craziest things happen in hospitals sometimes!!! Granted, I didn’t give birth to either of my children in a hospital, but I’ve heard all kinds of stories! That will be a good one to share with my midwife next time I see her! She and I could sit for hours talking about funny birth stories!

So… a running joke in our family is that we’re going to have 10 kids (last time I mentioned it was when we were choosing a washer–4 cu ft capacity instead of smaller, you know, because more kids means more clothes to wash… Anyhow, watching that video gives me an idea of what it could be like! I’m so thankful they only (usually) come one at a time! :)

Kimberly @ Raising Olives May 23, 2010 at 6:00 am

Congratulations Connie! We’re so happy and grateful for you. I’m going to chime in with you about babies not sliding out, I KNOW that for sure. ;)

Peyton is lovely and the video brings back many memories and makes me more ready for our newest to arrive.

Love and prayers as you recover and adjust to a new little one. xoxo

Congratulations!! Looks like she’ll be getting a lot of ‘hands on’ love! Love the cute little flower hat too!!

Eva May 26, 2010 at 11:37 pm

We didn’t find out the gender of our first until she was born. While she was being wiped off, etc., I asked who would be performing the circumcision. I think the doctor wanted to check my meds! LOL

Congratulations! So thankful for you many blessings and the video is just adorable!

Nikki May 27, 2010 at 2:55 pm

You had your baby girl the same day my little sister did! Congrats! She is beautiful! She looks just like her sisters.
