4 Moms Open House

The 4 Moms are back!

AND we are opening up our homes to you. Come on in and have a look around. Try to step around the mess, and make yourselves at home.

I was GOING to take some pictures of our weedy flower bed and the stray shoes on our front porch and tell you to remember that looks aren’t everything, and you can’t judge a book by its cover, and it’s what’s on the inside that counts, but this week I have either been at Six Flags with 8 children FOR TEN HOURS or had a baby attached to my breast almost non stop, and it’s sorta hard to take a good picture in that condition. Believe me. I tried.

So, instead, I’m posting these old pictures of our house.

This is what you will see if you drive up to our house. Complete with Monkey Boy, only he is about a foot taller now. If you come to visit, there will likely as not be someone with a baby on her hip. In this photo it is my now 10 year old and that baby is now 2 and a half and has been replaced as “the baby”.

If you make it through the used bicycle lot that is our driveway, to the front door without tripping over a roller skate, this is what will greet you. Remember, this picture is old, so I updated it with some captions. That rock on the right has, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord,” but some swallows decided to build a nest above it, and they will NOT be deterred by our repeated attempts at knocking it down with a broom, so it stays covered with bird droppings most of the time. Is that sacrilegious? Please, don’t tell me if it is, because I am much too tired to be washing rocks  of all things.

This is a view from our back porch. We have a small backyard with only a trampoline for playing on. Which might explain why our 4 year old was jumping on it in the rain. In her church clothes. Wait a minute. Nothing can explain that. (Smockity makes mental note to give birth to more normal children.)

Here is another picture of our backyard with a view of our next door neighbor’s garage. You can see that we have near neighbors on all sides. We would love to have more space for rowdy children to romp and play outside, and our neighbors would no doubt love it too.  Don’t ask me how I know this.

Thanks for visiting Smockity Land! I’m so glad you came! Y’all come back now. Ya hear?

  1. Love it, especially the arrows with the “missing ingredients” in your pictures! Thanks for the tour – and now I’m brave enough to link up a post as soon as I get it together. The post… :-D

  2. Swallow poop – how could I forget something so important? We have swallows all around our house too, but I don’t mind the poop as much as I appreciate all their bug-eating efforts. It’s a good trade as far as I’m concerned!

  3. Why don’t you try moving the rock? :)

  4. Trampolines are great backyard entertainment systems – aren’t they??! I can’t believe how my kids will literally spend hours on ours.

Re. breastfeeding – I can relate – my babies have used me as a “nosewarmer” many times in the past 13 years!! :)

  5. I can’t wait to see inside your house, it looks so beautiful on the outside.

I also used ‘old’ photos of our yard because, well, check out my post from Monday and then realize that our lawn mower broke shortly after the picture of it being buried in our front lawn was taken.

If we don’t find something to cut the grass soon you won’t be able to see our picnic table. Sad thing is I’m not joking.

  6. I love the pictures. So beautiful. Thank you for sharing with us. I’ll stay tuned for more. I’m hooked.
    God Bless

  7. I love the stone Connie! So neat!
I remember all too well, doing absolutely nothing besides sitting and nursing.
Thanks for hosting this fun linky!

  8. Thank you for visiting my site…I hope you’ll stop by again some time! I love seeing pics from your home and of your littles. You have a beautiful family.

  9. Excited to see the “insides” of large family homes.
Hoping to learn & get new ideas!

  10. Ohhhh, a family like mine! Jumping in the rain in a church dress. Suh-weet.
We had some Texas Barn Swallows that we put up a poop catcher for. It was two shelf brackets with a piece of cardboard clothespinned (I like to make up words) to it. Seriously.

    Your home looks so welcoming.

  11. Ah, Poo….I missed it. I posted my pics anyway. I will be sure not to miss this week.

  12. Do you still live here? With your chickens? And Alpaca owning neighbor?

    • Smockity Frocks says:

This was a neighborhood right on a golf course. Our neighbors were mostly retired and did NOT like children. They would often call security when our children jumped on the trampoline even though we made them come in for the night at 7:30.

We moved to the country shortly after this post.
