Win a New Cranium Game

by Smockity Frocks on October 16, 2010

Hasbro, through MyBlogSpark, recently provided me with the new game, “Scribblish”, to try out and they would also like to give one to one of my readers.

The suggested ages for this game are 8+ and we found that to be a good guideline because each player must read a caption and be able to copy it, draw a picture of it, then read another player’s hand written phrase, and draw that.

My kids (8+) all had a ball playing this for several rounds, though after a while, we gave up using the timer because it never seemed to give us enough time to draw with the details we were wanting to include.

I’m not going to come right out and say that we have some family members with, er, shall we say, warped senses of humor (either that or they are in desperate need of prescription glasses. Or counseling.), but, well… judge for yourself.

These are some of the made up captions we had at the end of our game:

  • “The Fart Band is in Town”
  • “My monkey-tail dad makes me sad.”
  • “Beware! A man devouring deer is on the loose!”

See what I mean? I am surrounded by weirdos.

But they are weirdos that make me laugh, so I’ll keep them.

And now one of YOU gets to keep this game! Hasbro would like to send one of you a brand new one. If you would like to win this game, simply leave a comment  on this post  telling us what your favorite board game is.

This is great. My kids are outgrowing our “younger” games and ready for a new one. We play Caves and Claws alot. I love that it is a cooperative game vs. Competitive. Thanks for the giveaway.

Brandae October 16, 2010 at 7:26 am

Sounds fun! My favorite is Balderdash.

Arlene October 16, 2010 at 7:33 am

We are a board game lovin’ family, and with 2 adult children and the youngest already 10, this sounds perfect for us. So much better than sitting in front of the TV for hours on end! I love the titles your family came up with – sounds like this game is a keeper!

Ginger October 16, 2010 at 7:36 am

Our favorite is chess.

Renee October 16, 2010 at 7:40 am

We LOVE to play WhooNu! Every time we have company we get that game out because it’s so much fun to play with lots of people!

Jen L. October 16, 2010 at 8:03 am

My 2 favorites right now are “Apples to Apples” and “Reminiscing” (like trivial pursuit but with stuff you’d actually know).

Tammy October 16, 2010 at 8:16 am

My all time favorite board game is “Life”. My kids love it too and that makes me terribly happy. :-)

Sabrina October 16, 2010 at 8:22 am

We love Monopoly!!

Stephanie October 16, 2010 at 8:30 am

Balderdash! My hubby and I first played this when we were newlyweds. We had so much fun, and one of the words I ‘defined’ is a running joke with us to this day (9+ years later). We enjoy all sorts of other board games–Cranium is another fun one–and card games as well, but Balderdash always brings back special memories for us.

Cheryl October 16, 2010 at 8:50 am

This looks like such a fun game and my whole family and extended family are always looking for new games to play!

Connie Seward October 16, 2010 at 8:58 am

Hope to win!

Jennifer M. October 16, 2010 at 9:01 am

My kiddos are still young, so we play a lot of Connect Four. :)

Sonia October 16, 2010 at 9:03 am

oh, too many favorites…monopoly, settlers, scrabble :)

meclarks October 16, 2010 at 9:03 am

Just one favorite??? I don’t know if I can choose between Balderdash, Scattergories, or Scrabble! (See a common theme there? English teacher, of course!) My favorite with our children is Bananagrams… so fun!

Joni October 16, 2010 at 9:07 am

I’m not trying to be a brown-noser or anything, but my favorite game HANDS-DOWN is Cranium! I don’t get to play it often, but I love it whenever we have a group together that can! I sure would love to try Cranium’s new game!

Wanda styraky October 16, 2010 at 9:21 am

We have played this game but do not have our own. Also we love just plain ole’ Monopoly!

kelly October 16, 2010 at 9:30 am

This game looks terrific! We like Scrabble, though we affectionately refer to it as “Squabble” because that’s what happens when our youngest gets involved….

Laura October 16, 2010 at 9:47 am

Our favorite board game is the Settlers of Catan, but it’s not really for young kids, since it’s a bit complex. As for an entire family game, we like Monopoly and other Cranium games.

I actually saw an ad for this game on tv last night and thought it looked interesting. It would be great to win!

Julie October 16, 2010 at 10:07 am

We like to play Orthello….among many, many others.

Tami Lewis October 16, 2010 at 10:15 am

oh boy! we are a board game loving family! i myself love scrabble the most :)

Beth Hudson October 16, 2010 at 10:21 am

My favorite board game is Sorry (it’s really easy to play with the kids), but my hubby’s favorite is Cranium. He’s always suggesting we play that one when we have company.

Scribblish looks a lot like a game we play at our Bible study get-togethers called Telephone Pictionary. But that game requires cutting up hundreds of little squares of paper and coming up with a random phrase on your own. So Scribblish would definitely be an upgrade!

Jennifer Dewing October 16, 2010 at 10:30 am

We love to play games, as well. My favorite game is Sorry! while my husband loves Wild Words (a spin off of Scrabble). Our children love Othello, checkers and Monopoly. And as a family, we all enjoy Bible Challenge.

When we get together with the extended family, we ALWAYS play games. Things, Outburst, Malarky, Apples to Apples, Pictionary, Family Feud, ….any kind of group game are good. This on defiantly looks really fun!

Julie October 16, 2010 at 10:39 am

How can I pick a favorite game — Pictionary, Trivial Pursuit, Would you rather, Cranium, the list could go on and on… I’ve seen the ads for this game and it looks like fun.

Ami October 16, 2010 at 10:39 am

We love Monopoly and Apples to Apples! :)

Sheilah Miller October 16, 2010 at 10:43 am

Not sure if I can name a favorite since we have at least a hundred games. We are a gaming family. However this is not one that we have and I would love to add it. My boys love Risk (I play once a year just to humor them) and I’ll have to go with Settler’s or Ticket to Ride for now.

Debra October 16, 2010 at 11:23 am

Wow! It’s really hard to chose. Lately, we have enjoyed the game Camp. It’s fun because many levels can play. We also like Cadoo. My oldest son loves Monopoly though. He’s always begging for someone to play it with him, or he just plays by himself. LOL

Savannah October 16, 2010 at 11:48 am

I looooooove to play Boggle, especially Master Boggle. =O) This Scribblish looks hilarious! Pictionary is a second favorite, so I’m really hoping I end up winning this silly drawing game. Thanks for the chance.

Christy Terry October 16, 2010 at 12:13 pm

Hmm…My hunney and I used to play Othello for HOURS back the day before we had babies and we had no tv LOL. Now we like card games, monopoly.

carly October 16, 2010 at 12:50 pm

Cool! I keep seeing ads for this game on TV and it looks like so much fun! My family loves games, and we too have many with a warped sense of humour (doesn’t it just make life more fun though?). We really enjoy Scattegories and Cranium.

My favorite board game is Stone Age, or maybe Dominion. But this looks like tons of fun!

Pam October 16, 2010 at 3:57 pm

Lisa October 16, 2010 at 5:34 pm

Our family’s favorite board game is Sorry.

abba12 October 16, 2010 at 6:08 pm

We love cluedo, we are very analytical and find the most fun trying to figure out what people have in their hands but haven’t shown you by what they show others and what they guess, it can get quite intense when you really put your mind to it and take all guesses and guess reactions into account instead of just the cards you see.

Tabby October 16, 2010 at 6:48 pm

Looks like a lot of fun! We like apples to apples and pictureka among others. :)

Elizabeth October 16, 2010 at 8:29 pm

Sorry! is my all-time favorite. I know it isn’t terribly exciting, but it brings back many happy memories as a child, playing with my grandmother and now my children enjoy it as well.
Thank you!

~Amy

Sheila D. Copeland October 16, 2010 at 8:58 pm

Favorite all time board game is Wahoo! We even have a homemade trophy for championship games. Second favorite, not really a game, but the whole family helps put together a large puzzle. No one is allowed to work on it without the others there. Sometimes it takes days or weeks to finish. But time well spent.

Amanda October 16, 2010 at 9:06 pm

We love playing Taboo! We also loved playing Scrutineyes, but I don’t think that’s even made anymore!

Danielle October 16, 2010 at 9:31 pm

Life! It has been my favorite board game forever! My hubby even got me the newest version for Valentines day last year!

Kris @ WUHS and Eclipsed October 16, 2010 at 9:39 pm

I personally love Scrabble (or Bananagrams), but we, as a family, play a lot of games that we love: Scrambled States of America, Sorry, Monopoly Jr. We also love Hullabaloo, although it’s not a board game. I don’t think I could pick just one as a favorite.
