How to Make Chocolate Banana Pops

It is super easy to make these chocolate banana pops and your kids will LOVE them!

I found ripe bananas on sale and picked up several bags, so I needed to use them before they spoiled. The first thing that came to mind was freezing and I thought I would give these chocolate banana pops a whirl.

You’ll need the following ingredients to make your own:

  • bananas
  • chocolate flavored almond bark
  • sprinkles, chopped nuts
  • craft sticks
  • wax paper

1. Peel the bananas, break in half, and stab a craft stick in each end.

2. Melt the almond bark on low heat, stirring frequently.

3. Roll the bananas in the chocolate and then in the sprinkles or nuts.

4. Place on a cookie tray lined with wax paper to dry.

5. Flash freeze.

After the last step, I chunked all the chocolate banana pops into a big bowl and set it in my freezer for easy pickin’s.

That’s right! I didn’t even individually wrap them because I knew they would be gone in no time at all.

And also because my personal motto is “It’ll do.”

In addition to “Show your knees if you please, but keep your thighs a surprise.”

But that’s another blog post.

I was just thinking about making some of these today because I have a pile of ripe bananas, and I know we won’t be able to use them all today. Thanks for the reminder!

I’ve never made them, but they sure do look yummy!

And you caught me by surprise with that penultimate sentence. Made me laugh out loud – wonder if I can remember that to tell my daughter in a few more years?

(I also get bonus points for using “penultimate” in a sentence before 8 a.m.)

I’ve seen these before, but never made them. My crew would fall in love with them. Let me ask ya–is the low temp your trick to successfully melting Almond Bark. Seems as if I always end up with a “crunchy” mess now that I don’t have a microwave. :) So now I’ve been using melted chocolate chips.

Phoebe, Yes, low temp is imperative. After reheating the same batch a few times, it started seizing up.

Yum! Those look delicious!

And, I’m totally with you on the thighs thing. ;-)

They look yummy! I have to say, though, that the idea of biting into a frozen banana sounds difficult and gives me a little chill. Do you let them thaw before eating? I’ve always been curious.

Susan, I don’t let them thaw first. I think that might make a gooey mess. They are no more difficult to eat than a popsicle. Give it a try!
