I got a package in the mail from General Mills and Hot Wheels, through MyBlogSpark.
This is what we found when we opened the box.
You would have thought there were gold bars, or at the very least Snickers bars in there, the way my children reacted.
There was clapping and shrieking about “the GOOD cereal” and “We neverrrrr get the GOOD cereal!”
Whatever. Children just don’t appreciate the good ol’ black and white packaged generic brands, do they?
There is something about colorful packaging and a free toy [inside specially marked boxes] that makes kids giddy.

Well, I’m a little afraid to admit it – but I love Lucky Charms! They are magically delicious. Yummy!

Cheerios actually. That haven’t made a generic that can top Cheerios…or even hold a candle to a good ole box of Cheerios and believe me I have tried lol.

Lucky Charms!!!! We have regular cereal all week but Saturday nights are special: JUNK CEREAL NIGHT!!! It’s like an official holiday in our home!!! I buy junk cereals on sale and then on Saturday I make sure we have 2 gallons of milk for the crew! I’d LOVE to win!!! Thanks! Hope whoever wins will start JUNK CEREAL NIGHT in their home!!! (I have friends and neighbors who think I’m nuts and on the other side that think I am a fun mom! The comments are always interesting.)

Also like Apple Jacks on that rare occasion. They are both yummy without milk which I can’t have.

We love cereal at our house–but for the kids i usually buy Cheerios or Chex–sometimes we step it up and get Frosted Flakes. I bought Reeses Puffs a while back–and after i caught myself eating another bowl before bed (my 3rd) –and when i was filled with sadness when the box emptied the next morning–i decided i probably shouldn’t buy them again, they are from the devil!!!! super delicious!!!
Our favorites change, but one that comes around a lot is the Malt-o-Meal brand “Marshmallow Mateys”.

Kat Menard, your comment made me lol. I’m shocked at all the sweet tooths from these moms! My favorite is Special K Cinnamon Pecan. I’ve never eaten Special K, but had a free coupon for this one and oh, I fell in love. It’s pricey though at $3/box for a not very large box. My non nut eating husband even loved it, but alas his favorite is Kelloggs Raisin Bran Crunch which btw is the same price as the generic box so we get the name brand one.
My favorite, hmmm, I like Lucky Charms, but I think Golden Grahams are my absolute favorite! (Cinnamon Life is up there too!

It really IS very funny that so many people LOVE the junk cereal! Me included, altho I mostly eat Great Value raisin bran, which, incidentally, I love! But, probably my favorite is…yes…Lucky Charms, like so many others!!!!
Yummmm…. As for my 4 little ones, they pretty much like any, amazingly. They even choose a low/no sugar one over junk ones many times! Therefore I don’t buy ‘bad’ ones very often because I WOULD EAT IT and I DO NOT NEED IT!! My hips show it….

At the moment, I am really enjoying the Whole Grain Cheerios
My 21 month old loves shredded wheat and my five year old is a big fan of the Banana Bread one from Post Selects 
My husband will basically eat anything that keeps some crunch when in milk LOL

We live captain crunch for a treat, but usually we don’t buy it. We make our own granola and eat a lot of oatmeal.

Cheerios, and actually I was a home schooled child and we also never got the good cereal:) Generic most of the home. When we stayed in a hotel and the continental breakfast had the mini boxes we were in heaven!

Having 2 toddlers means we go through a significant amount of cheerios here.
My personal favorites are raisin bran crunch and cocoa puffs. Not that I get cocoa puffs like EVER. When I was a kid I got to pick a box of “junk food cereal” for my birthday. It was always cocoa puffs or capt. crunch.
In my house we fight over Multigrain Cheerios and Raisin Nut Bran the most.
