Since our life changing, upside down turning, sudden unemployment, we are hoping more than ever that our garden gives us plenty of fresh produce.
This time a couple of weeks ago, we thought it would be mighty dandy if we could get food from the dirt in our yard, but NOW we are thinking it very well could be the only way we get fresh produce.
So far, we have green tomatoes, but those are the only edible things we are seeing. We also hope to have corn, okra, potatoes, onions, cucumbers, zucchini, beans, cantaloupe, and watermelon.
Now it’s YOUR turn! How does your garden grow?
Go ahead and link up to a post about your garden, and be sure to include a link back here, so your readers can enjoy the fun.

I have a blog, but it is a private blog by invite, so I thought I would share by comment. I live in Warsaw, Poland. We don’t have a very big yard, but I started a small garden in flower pots and boxes. Unfortunately, my onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers died. I replanted cucumbers, but gave up on the other two. I have radishes, green beans, and spinach growing. Problem is, it doesn’t appear that anything will make it. I am disappointed because I love the feeling of growing. Top this all off with a storm last night that brought snow of all things. I am glad my husband brought everything into the garage. This is a benefit of planting in boxes…until they get bigger.
Sorry, I just re-read my comment and found several errors. Please forgive me for not being more attentive to my words. Oh, and Smockity Frocks, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Take care and continue to trust in Him with all things.
I live in Pennsylvania and it hasn’t stopped raining long enough to even think about getting my garden in. Hoping I get one in this year!
I live in Southern Ontario and today I wore my winter coat to work. I cannot believe how freezing cold it is for May. It’s supposed to warm up for the rest of the week though. We have nothing planted outside yet.
On April 19th, we started from seed indoors, various kinds of lettuce, tomatoes, parsley, sunflowers, cucumbers, cilantro…I think that’s it. We have a rather good size plot in our backyard and are always thrilled with watching it grow. This year I stumbled upon seed potatoes at Walmart. I bought 2 boxes – if it works, I should expect 100 lbs of potatoes! I’ll be planting them in garbage cans and crossing my fingers.
I don’t have any thing to photograph yet as we are just moving things in but yesterday we bought an apple tree for the front yard and an avocado tree for the back yard (the first of many more fruit trees to come), and I planted (in one of my half-whiskey barrels) lettuce, chard, morning glories and sunflowers.
Not sure when or if I will get to blog about the garden, but one of our easy successes has been basil. It grows easily in pots on the window sill. We grow several pots at a time for pesto. I haven’t had much success with it outside as it doesn’t like even slightly cold weather (I live in England). Garlic grows well too for us as do tomatoes and beetroot.
Nothing edible yet but the peas and beans are growing like crazy!! Loving all this rain in Tx!
