The 4 Moms are hosting a picnic linky this week! We would love to know your favorite picnic recipes, tips, and plans.
Is there anything better to do in the summer than go on a picnic? Something about eating your lunch outside on a blanket just makes the whole world seem brighter, doesn’t it? You really can’t beat a picnic in summer.
Except for the flies and the ants. Oh, and the heat. Don’t get me started on the heat. And the spills. Someone always spills the lemonade at our picinics.
But let’s not talk about those things, shall we? Picnics are FUN!

As for The Smockity Bunch, we like to take “orange fruit baskets” on our picnics. I put frozen grapes and berries inside for a cool treat.

Everyone LOVES these and they are simple to make! Just cut a basket shape, scoop out the orange, and fill with goodies! They can even be filled, wrapped, and frozen ahead of time. My kids love to open up their wrapped baskets to see what I have tucked inside!
(See more tips on free summer fun.)
What about you? We would love to know what you like to take on picnics! Here’s how you can participate:
1. You must link to a specific relevant post on your blog.
2. Your post must include a link to at least one of the 4 Moms, Raising Olives, The Common Room, Life in a Shoe, or ME.
3. Your blog post must be completely family friendly.
If your link is deleted, you probably didn’t follow one of the rules above. Please feel free to add your link again once you have fixed the problem. If you don’t know why your link was deleted, please ask.

its yummy filled with sherbert too
When I was little and anyone was complaining about ants she would tell us to put a little bit of chocolate on them and eat your dessert early, lol, at least I think she was kidding hmmm……
(A little background: It was common knowledge back then that South American rainforest children loved to eat chocolate covered ants, it was a treat, I think it came from a National Geographic article. Dessert for us was never ants. lol)
You are a great mom! I’ve got to try the fruit basket thing.
