Mom Heart and Mom Fun

I had the chance to attend Sally Clarkson’s Mom Heart conference in Dallas last weekend and it was awesome! Sally had so many wonderful things to say and she said them all wonderfully.

Here are some of her memorable quotes:

  • In the absence of Biblical conviction, you will go the way of culture.
  • We get permission from culture to compromise our ideals.
  • The most blessed child is the child with a happy mom who enjoys life.
  • You are the Bible your children read.
  • Our goal is to capture the hearts of our children; to light a fire.
  • God delights in using normal people to change the world.
  • I don’t know about you, but I’m allergic to heat. It makes me sinful. (about Texas summers)

I also got to enjoy spending time with some bloggy friends. Courtney, pictured above, from Women Living Well, is a doll. A living doll, I tell you!

I met Mandy, from Biblical Homemaking, and she made me envy her hair, but I forgave her for that. Wait. No. She forgave me. Is that right?

I went to the room of Heather, aka Sprittibee, and Kelly, from Wisdom Begun, and hung out there. They even let me chat with them on camera! My awesome roommate, Sally’s niece, Kristie did the videography. (Email readers click through to the blog to see the video.)

And there may or may not have been some jumping on the beds going on.

*No beds were harmed in the making of this video, so chillax and don’t be gettin’ all up in my Kool Aid about it. Kthanks.

  1. Oh my goodness! I was so glad to meet you in person! :) you are so sweet! I hope I get to see you @ allume! :D it was so much fun to chat with you in the hall!

  2. I am so glad that you were able to go to the conference. It looks like it was just wonderful! I agree about Courtney, so is a doll, I got to room with her at last year’s Relevant/Allume. I would love to meet Mandy someday too!
Oh, and I love that you said chillax. Cracks. Me. Up!

  3. I wish I would’ve known you were at the conference! I would’ve loved to have met you. I follow your blog almost daily! It was an amazing conference, I agree. One of my favorite parts was seeing (& hearing from themselves) how Sally’s children turned out & yet they were just as needy, snotty, and selfish at one time or another as my children can be sometimes… There’s hope! LOL :)
I got to meet Mandy, too, although I didn’t know at the time that she was Biblical Homemaking. But I WAS envious of her beautiful hair!! ;-)

  4. you made me envious, watching you let go and have fun jumpin’ on those beds!! it looks like it was a great getaway!!

  5. I love that you jumped on the beds! My kids know when we go to a hotel they’re allowed to jump on the beds, but not at home…d’ya think it stops em? Looks like you had a great uplifting time!

  6. Jeri Riddick says:

Really? I so wanted to go, but we just adopted our 6th child last Wednesday and never mind the fact we just don’t have the funds currently. Isn’t Sally just a doll. Sigh…we met her at the THSC conference in 2008 and in 2010 visited our friends in CO City. As we drove thru Sally’s town I looked out over the mountains wondering if I could see her house. Not like I knew where it was! And Heather, she lives minutes from me and I still have not met her. Alas, I’m happy for all that got to go though.

  7. “Our goal is to capture the hearts of our children – to light a fire” – wonderful idea. Some great quotes there. I think that quotes are one of our best ways of sharing wisdom.

  8. Thank you for posting the quotes. I appreciate them!
