This week The 4 Moms are discussing how we make time to manage the budget.
But first I want to tell you how excited we are about the positive response we have had from our brand new ebook, “4 Moms of 35+ Kids Answer Your Parenting Questions“. We have gotten many emails and comments about how happy our customers are with the ebook. One buyer even said,
“I’d have paid the money just for the info in the appendices.” – Jenny

And now to the task at hand: Making Time to Manage the Budget
Since tax time is right around the corner it has really hit home how important it is to make time regularly to manage the budget.
When my husband suddenly and unexpectedly lost his job earlier this year, he had a lot of time on his hands that he normally didn’t have. It was then that he created a spreadsheet for my blog earnings that has saved me a HUGE amount of time.
Since I make money blogging, he made columns for me to add income, columns for me to add expenses, and columns for me to categorize each of those. If I keep up with entering the information on a regular basis, it is easy as pie, no big deal.
Did you notice that I said “if”? Yeah. Well, that’s because I haven’t been so great about doing it regularly. I’ve mostly done it when he has asked, “Have you entered your earnings this month?” and now I am scrambling to fill in some of the expenses I never got around to entering at all.
So, the moral of this cautionary tale, dear readers, is that if you will make time to regularly manage your budget, chart expenses, list earnings, etc, then you won’t be panicked at tax time trying to remember all you spent and earned last year.
Another benefit to making time to do this regularly is that you will have a chance to review where your money is going and how much is coming in each month. This can be an invaluable tool to making the most of what God has given you and even making wise decisions to increase your earnings based on what you see in your review.
