Memorial Day

by Smockity Frocks on May 27, 2012

This is a photo of the flag that was draped over the coffin of the son of my sweet friend, Penny.

And these are her hands. The hands of a mother clutching desperately on to the remembrance of her son.

That’s what Memorial Day is for.

Remembering.

I love Penny and her family! Thanks to her for always letting God use her to be an encourager and example of a Christ-like life.

Thank you for posting this, Connie. I pray for the day when every American understands the gravity of this day. No one should ever say, “Happy Memorial Day.” There’s nothing happy about a day set aside to remember those brave men and women who died to preserve our freedoms. God bless Penny, and all the other moms, dads, sisters, brothers, and children who have suffered such tremendous losses.

My entire military family thank you for your beautiful post!

“If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; may your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countryman.”. Samuel Adams
