How to Make Fresh Mozzarella

Have you ever wondered how to make fresh mozzarella?

We have been getting lots of fresh goat milk from our dairy goats and this is one way we are using it up.

We used this awesome step by step mozzarella making tutorial, complete with videos and lots of pictures.

  1. We tried to make fresh mozzarella recently, but all of the pasteurized milk here much be pasteurized at too high of a temp as it wouldn’t turn out. It made great ricotta, but that was it.

    I’m wondering how mozzarella tastes when made with goat milk? Most of the goat cheese here isn’t that great and nothing like regular mozzarella, but maybe if we could find raw goat milk easier than raw cow’s milk and it tasted similar to regular mozzarella we’d give it a try.

      My kids declared that it tastes just like “store mozzarella”. We all liked it!

      I don’t know about making it with anything except raw goat milk. That’s all we have tried.

  3. I think it all depends on if you like the taste of raw goats milk, if you don’t like the milk you won’t like the cheese.

    • Hi Shannon, I am the tutorial maker and wanted to say… I have loads of people try my Mozzarella. Specifically my best friend and my sister, both whom loath the goats milk, they both LOVE the mozz. :) They said there is not a goaty flavor at all. Tho, most people don’t even taste a goaty flavor in the milk, either. Sometimes when B-vitamins are low we get a bit of a venison (gamey) flavor to the milk. I then would give them some B-12 shots. I now have a cobalt block. Cobalt metabolizes into B-12 in goats. Problem solved. :)
