Here are a few I have received recently.
How do you handle nursing a baby with older children needing you?
I have over 8 years of breastfeeding experience under my belt, but there is always an adjustment period when I am nursing a newborn.
The main adjustment is that the little ones, in particular the previously youngest child, don’t always understand why Mama can’t jump right up and fill up a sippy cup or come outside to see a found turtle.
But the baby must be fed, and the other things must wait. The children very soon come to understand that Mama must take frequent breaks throughout the day to sit and feed the baby.
I like to have a book ready to read aloud each time I nurse, so everyone looks forward to that time and comes to expect that Mama will be sitting quietly for a while several times a day.
How old are you?
How do you teach little children to sit quietly in church?
I have written before about how to teach kids to sit quietly in church , and The 4 Moms even have a section in our parenting ebook dedicated to this topic, with a printable to help little ones take notes. The “notes” are really tally marks near pictures of words they hear in the sermon, so even non-readers can participate in the note taking.
I used the printable last week, and it kept everyone actively listening throughout the entire 45 minute sermon.
With, toddlers and babies, we take them out when they get noisy and let them practice sitting quietly in our laps. They know they may not get down and play and that when they get quiet, we will go back inside and they may hold their dolly or look at a little book.
How do you stay so skinny?
Well, I wouldn’t call it “skinny”, but I don’t always eat what I want to eat or as much as I want. I also practice prayer and fasting periodically .
Now, be sure to see what questions the rest of The 4 Moms of 35+ Kids are answering!
