What do you drive?
We went from a mini-van to a Suburban, and didn’t get a bigger vehicle until we filled that to capacity and were expecting another. We had ordered and were waiting on the arrival of a used 15 passenger van, which we were supposed to get in time for us to use on our vacation trip. Only we didn’t.
Ah those fun, fun memories of making a cross country trip in a Suburban with 2 adults, 6 children, 4 car seats, a double stroller, a pack and play, and luggage for 2 adults and 6 children in the back!
By the way, the photo at that link was taken shortly after we found the child who was lost at Silver Dollar City. Can you tell from the photo which one it was?
Is it normal to have a very small social network with a large family? Seems like we never get invites to anything now that we are a family of 7. I don’t mind at all being the hostess. Just wondering if this is normal, and how to maintain our friendships with other families.
I think large families are intimidating because people think there is no where to put all the guests if they invite them over, or they won’t have enough dishes to serve them on.
Those perceptions are understandable and, for some people, accurate. Maybe they really don’t have enough seating or space to handle a large family.
We like to have people over instead of waiting for invitations. This enlarges a social network, if that is what you are wanting.
Remember that you can still serve others in an imperfect home . In fact, if you wait until you have a perfect home to invite others into it, chances are it will never happen.
Don’t you need to finish writing your speech and do some laundry so you can pack for your trip to the Homeschool Moms’ Winter Summit ?
Why, yes, yes, I do. Thank you so much for the reminder.
(Okay, so that question came from my conscience, but I really do need to get going. Peace OUT!)
Now, go see what questions the rest of my 4 Moms team are answering.
