It Turns Out Asking Nicely Really Works!

by Smockity Frocks on January 23, 2013

We went from finding these plastered over every imaginable surface in our home…

…to this in the span of one week.

Of course, previous to this week, there have been innumerable talks about responsibility and maturity, plus the buying of a hamster with her own money and the caring for and keeping alive of said hamster for well over a year and a half, and the buying and growing and keeping alive and selling of bunny rabbits to prove her responsibility and maturity.

And now we have a very happy little girl and one well loved chi-weenie on our hands.

I think they make a good pair. Don’t you?

As a grown-up animal lover who had her first pet mouse at a very young age (about 6 years old) that I cared for exclusively, including earning money to pay for it’s bedding and food, I LOVE THIS! Way to go Momma for allowing your Daughter the freedom to pursue her passions and encouraging her responsibility! My son is 27 months old and has his own Betta Fish, even though he doesn’t really understand the concept of earning money completely yet, he is very good at remembering that he needs to turn his fish light on and off, as well as feeding his fish. He also remembers to feed our dog, I put the food in the bowl and he sets it down for her. I think teaching our children to be responsible for and nurturing another life is an invaluable lesson. :-)

Love this! What is a Chi-weenie? Is that a type of dog? Love animals and think it’s so important for kiddos to be exposed to caring and nurturing other living things.

It is suspected to be a cross between chihuahua and dachshund. We got it at the shelter.
