Book lovers. Bibliophiles. Bookworms.
Our family, from its very earliest days has always loved books. In fact, my husband is still working on forgiving me for the time I may as well have cut his still beating heart from his chest when I sold his extensive collection of Louis L’Amour books at a garage sale. I hadn’t seen him pick one up in a good long while, so I figured he was through with them. That was 25 years ago, and he is almost over it.
So you might say we love books. And we have a lot of them.
I have picked up most of our books at garage sales or library book sales, and for the most part, we have never had enough shelving to house them all. For years, they have taken turns being boxed up in the garage, and I have diligently taped the boxes up and moved them every time we have moved to a new home.
That’s why I was thrilled when my husband came up with the brilliant plan to add floor to ceiling, wall to wall bookshelves in the new addition we completed last fall.
I filled the bottom 2 shelves with fiction, put biographies on the next shelf up, reference books above that, and finally collections, like C.S. Lewis and Laura Ingalls Wilder, at the top.
After we got all the books on there, I realized that I have an entire shelf full of biographies! Most of these were discarded from a public library, so they are hard backs with the special durable library bindings.
I got all the biographies arranged in alphabetical order, and I may be slightly obsessive about keeping them that way.
So, if you come to my house and take out a biography, I will probably follow you around biting my fingernails until you put it back in alphabetical order!
