Chick-Fil-A Discontinues Carrot Raisin Salad

I am super bummed that Chick-Fil-A is discontinuing one of my favorite menu items, their carrot raisin salad!

I heard it straight from the manager of our local Chick-Fil-A. I love this stuff and can’t believe they are getting rid of it!

Don’t worry, though, fellow carrot raisin salad lovers. Smockity is on the case. For the love of all that is sweet and crunchy, I vow to uncover the secret recipe through endless taste tests (also known as ordering it as often as I can before they pull the plug).

You can see through the link to the Chick-Fil-A site, that the ingredients are listed as

  • carrots (duh)
  • raisins
  • pineapple chunks
  • sugar
  • lemon juice
  • mayonnaise

Now, I just have to figure out the proportions. Check back soon for my recipe!

What about you? Do you like Chick-Fil-A’s carrot raisin salad?

  1. Oh. This makes me sad. My grandmother is turning over in her grave. She loved the carrot-raisin salad. True story. Setting: My husband, mom, grandmother and me sitting around the kitchen table, eating Chick-fil-a. Grandma: “Tyler, what are you eating?” Tyler: “I got a chicken sandwich.” Grandma: “I didn’t know you could get a chicken sandwich at Chick-fil-a!!!” Tyler, Mom, Me: *simultaneously look at our “Home of the Original Chicken Sandwich” Bag, sitting on the table with our waffle fries.* Tyler: “Yep. They have them.” Grandma: “I just love their carrot-raisin salad.” AND SCENE.

  2. I heard they are revamping or discontinuing their side salad too, which is my go to when I need to rationalize a CFA milkshake. What is the world coming to?!

  3. Maybe they’ll give you the recipe being that they are discontinuing it. Have you asked?

  4. I found this one online. Maybe his will be close.
    Chick-Fil-A Carrot and Raisin Salad

    4 cups finely shredded carrots

1 can (20 oz.) crushed pineapple, with juice

    1 cup raisins

    3/4 cup mayonnaise

    1 tbsp. sugar

    1/2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice

Chill all ingredients except sugar at least 30 minutes. Dissolve the sugar in the pineapple, then combine everything gently in a large bowl. May be refrigerated up to 72 hours. Serves 8.

NOTE: Fresh carrots are the secret, according to Chick-Fil-A.

  7. I love the carrot and raisin salad as well. My mother made it for us as children. What is even worse is that it is one of the few small items I can eat from Chick-Fil-A. The chicken is cooked in peanut oil so I get sick every time I eat it even though I love it! I make the salad once in a while but I leave out the pineapple. (My children won’t eat pineapple.) One of the secrets is to make sure that you don’t use excessive mayo when you make it. I like to make it so it can sit for a while so the raisins are plump and soft.

    So sad!

  8. My kids are going to be unhappy… The carrot raisin salad is the one reason mom is agreeable to going to Chick-Fil-A as often as she is!

  9. i was wondering if you could take a moment and share this link with your friend its a fundraiser for my daughter. Its for medical funds she was born with a hole in her heart and intestine and also she had a level 3 and 4 brain bleed 4 being the highest level of its case. i know you may not know us or may not even care but i want you to know that by sharing this link it will mean so much to our hearts the fundraiser is called “Hope 4 Raniyah” here is the link http://fundly.com/hope-4-raniyah God bless

  10. They are getting rid of all their salads (putting out new ones) and all their wraps, besides the carrot raisin salad. And getting rid of their brownies. I don’t mind the brownies but I am thinking this is a stupid move on their part. Why fix what ain’t broke? Oh, also getting rid of the hot chocolate and hot tea. All of this effective Monday 4/29.

I actually have the recipe and it taste just like it.

Super bummed though I would go through the drive thru all the time just for that salad.

  12. Rhonda Berrien says:

A sad day…….I am so disappointed that Chik-Fil-A has discontinued its carrot salad.

  13. Laurie Winslett says:

WAIT! I heard something new today! The Dwarf Houses will continue to offer Carrot Raisin Salad. :D

  14. Patricia Cooke says:

I am so disappointed that Chik-Filet discontinued the Carrot Raisan Salad.
It was why that was my favorite place to eat.

  15. PAT MARSH says:

the only side I ever got was carrot..How could they do that?

  16. I don’t WANT the recipe….making it at home is not the same! For years I have looked forward to my weekly visit to CFA for the chicken salad sandwich and carrot salad. It’s no fun going there anymore. Pleeeeease CFA… bring back the carrots!!!!!!!!

  17. Sign the petition on change.org. I’m sooo bummed!

  18. if you drain the crushed pineapple, soak the raisins for about an hour in the pineapple juice, the raisins will be very plump.

  19. Mix the sugar, raisins, crushed pineapple w/juice, and lemon juice together at least an hour before you make the salad. You can use an equal amount of Splenda if you like. (I figure if it’s healthier I can have more : )
Wash and peel your carrots and shred them with an extra fine grater like what you’d use for parmesan… I like the salad shooter for this. Re-chill the shredded carrots with some ice cubes in a separate Ziploc bag so as to not water down your carrots…. that’s all the tips I’ve picked up from around the web, the recipe on here seems to be the McCoy… Hope I’ve helped somebody…. That carrot salad was the only thing I ate at Chick-fil-a since they stopped making it I haven’t been back
